OCPI is proud to provide ongoing support to West Island Community Shares (WICS) in its mission to ensure that help is available to any resident in need. WICS raises crucial funds for local charities that offer vital services and programs that enable residents to live a healthy, safe, and happy life.
In 2014, sixty-two Otsuka employees and their families participated in and raised $30,000 for the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Walk organized by the PKD Foundation of Canada. This foundation promotes research, advocacy, education, support, and awareness programs in order to discover treatments, find a cure, and improve the lives of everyone this disease affects.
As an additional ongoing initiative, OCPI supports Women Aware, an organization that increases awareness around violence and provides long-term support to former victims of domestic abuse. For example, Otsuka employees collect and donate personal care items for women and children who are living shelters.
OCPI has also participated in the Helping Hands Project, which is a truly unique opportunity to be involved with a worthwhile cause at the same time as super-charging employee engagement. The Helping Hands Project runs company team building sessions in which employees build prosthetic hands that are donated to amputee landmine victims throughout the developing world.
