Manager, CNS Medical Education and Sales Training

Summary of purpose:

The Manager, CNS Medical Education & Sales Training will support the development of the strategy and successful rollout of the national medical education plan for the CNS brands.

This individual will also be responsible for developing, delivering and updating ongoing training programs to maximize the effectiveness of the representatives’ ability to sell.

In both capacities, he/she will work in coordination with our alliance partner to align initiatives in accordance with agreed upon strategies. In conjunction with the Sales & Marketing Managers, The Manager, CNS Medical Education & Sales Training will continually assess the needs of target HCPs and CNS Specialty Representatives to identify gaps and develop and deliver high quality programs.

Medical Education:

  • Provide strategic input to the national medical education strategy and programs for the CNS Franchise
  • Support the successful execution of the CNS medical education plans
  • Work closely with OCPI Marketing and Sales Managers, to develop and rollout learning activity programs (e.g., speaker tours, OLAs) ensuring clear learning objectives, standard content, invitation templates and evaluation forms
  • Define best methods and tools for delivery of educational content based on thorough needs assessments and close collaboration with cross-functional team members
  • Liaise with customers to ensure clear alignment with program expectations and delivery
  • Critically evaluate educational event outcomes and metrics to measure effectiveness, with the goal of improved patient outcomes
  • Act as the in-house expert on accreditation of activities
  • Ensure compliance with CHE/CPD/OLA policies and external accreditation standards

Sales Training:

  • In collaboration with marketing, sales and medical, lead the development of the CNS sales training strategy
  • Train representatives on product knowledge, competition, basic to advanced selling/negotiation skills, business acumen, general medical terminology, and disease management
  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of the CNS Specialty Representative training programs in a wide variety of formats, including written and other media-based training
  • Assess the training and developmental needs of representatives through ongoing discussions with marketing and sales managers
  • Establish objectives for, and develop criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of the training activities and make modifications as necessary to ensure the training meets the educational goals
  • Keep abreast of training and development research; adult learning theory, and new materials, methods and techniques. Identify best practices associated with adult based learning objectives, and stay abreast of the competitive landscape and OCPI products
  • Manage training communications including pre-work related to cycle meetings

Qualifications & Key Competencies:

  • BA or BSc degree required, preferably with a science background
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a medical education role
  • Experience designing, developing and delivering sales training modules
  • Knowledge and implementation of adult learning techniques
  • Understanding of the healthcare system and key stakeholders
  • Understanding of the medical industry and codes of practice
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including group presentations
  • Strong project management skills
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills
  • Influencing, negotiating, and conflict resolution skills
  • Flexible, “can do” attitude
  • Five or more years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred
